Fall Decorations: Natural Gourd Display Crafting Workshop at Bowman Library

Our next DIY crafting workshop is Fall Decorations: Natural Gourd Display on October 5th at 2PM at Bowman Library. The hands-on workshop is free and open the public and is designed for adults. Attendees will learn how to turn a plain gourd into a centerpiece or accent piece for your home at Halloween or Thanksgiving. Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardeners Association will demonstrate to attendees how to paint a gourd, use stencils, and how to mod podge materials onto gourds.

Crafting with Flowers and Plants Garden Program Coming to Handley Library

We are excited to announce the next gardening program for adults, Let’s Use What You Grow in Your Garden: Crafting with Flowers and Plants, on August 10th at 2PM at Handley Library.

The Master Gardeners will focus on different ways to preserve flowers for crafting. Demonstrations will be presented on pressing flowers, preserving in different mediums, and air drying. A hands-on craft will utilize a variety of pressed flowers applied to a wood ornament.

Garden Programs Continue to Grow at Bowman and Handley Libraries

We are excited to announce the next gardening program. Garden Problems: How to Stop and Prevent Some Common Issues is on June 5th at 6PM at Bowman Library. The workshop will focus on common gardening problems, pests, fungus, water issues, and more. Presented by Tricia Boyd from the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardner Association, the program is free and open to adults. The gardening program is part of a series offered at Bowman Library and Handley Library.

New Program at Bowman Library to Focus on Growing a Pollinator Garden

We have a new gardening program for adults on May18th at 2PM at Bowman Library in Stephens City. The program, Native Plants: Attract Friendly Pollinators to Your Garden, is taught by Master Gardner Stacy Morgan Smith. Smith will show attendees how to grow a pollinator garden that will bring in bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators throughout the season. The adult program is free and open to the public.
