A) The DAR Library
B) The National Archives
C) The National Gallery of Art
The Varsity Travel ( formerly Schrock Travel) Bus will depart from Solenberger’s on Berryville Avenue (Rt. 7) in Winchester and will leave promptly at 8:00 a.m. Please arrive a little early so the bus can leave on time. We are very grateful that Solenberger's has again agreed to allow us to use their parking lot as the meeting point for our bus. Please remember to park in the spaces nearest the chain-link fence so as not to interfere with customer parking during the day. Vehicles left at the parking lot are the responsibility of the participants; Solenberger's is not responsible for any theft or damage. If researchers request it in advance, the bus will make a stop to pick up passengers at the Martins, 409 N. McNeill Road, Berryville. Please park toward the end of that parking lot closest to Hwy 340. Researchers should be there by
8:05 a.m. Researchers should be ready to depart DC at 3:00 p.m., arriving in Winchester around 5:30 p.m.
We must have a minimum of 20 paid reservations by two weeks ahead of time. If we do not have enough people signed up, the bus trip will be canceled. Researchers will be notified by telephone if trips are canceled, and money will be refunded. If you must cancel your reservation please notify us at least one week in advance in order to receive a refund. Unfortunately we will not be able to refund cancelations less than one week in advance.
The cost of each bus trip is $25.00. To confirm a seat reservation, send a check made payable to Friends of Handley Regional Library to FHRL/ P.O. Box 4/ Winchester, VA 22604 at least two weeks before the trip. Please remember to indicate where you would like to be picked up and which DC research facility you would like to visit. You must include a phone number, so you can be called if the trip is canceled.
Remember, although these trips are primarily for researchers, sightseers are welcome, as their bus fare will help pay for the chartered bus.
