Winter Reading Challenge 2026: Registration Begins December 30

The 2026 Winter Reading Challenge theme is "Read with Benny". Books are the ultimate fuel for your imagination and intellect. With a library card, you can borrow from thousands of books and digital materials, attend free programs, and even get expert recommendations from our librarians.

We challenge each participant to read and log at least 8 hours (or 480 minutes). Earn fun badges for logging your reading, completing activities, submitting book reviews, and earning bingo.

Register HERE for the "Read with Benny" winter reading challenge, sponsored by the Friends of Handley Regional Library, our friends at The River Radio Station, 95.3 and on Beanstack.

Complete a BINGO card by logging reading, completing activities, and submitting book reviews. Log through the Beanstack App.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read. Track. Win!

1KBb4K is a year-round library program that encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1,000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading to your children is the best way to prepare them for Kindergarten! 1KBb4K encourages families to spend quality time together and promotes pre-literacy learning so that children enter school ready to read, listen, and learn.

  • Any child from birth to entering Kindergarten can participate in this self-paced early literacy program at Handley Regional Library System.
  • Each Fall and Spring, we have a graduation ceremony to acknowledge the achievement of the graduates of the program.
