Traveling through Time with John Ross

Posted on:

Maps are fascinating.  They can provide us with so much information about the people and places in history, all the while in a manner that is easy to understand and just visually beautiful.  We can learn where our ancestors and our community lived and how they lived through maps.

If maps are an interest to you or needed for your research, please plan on attending our upcoming talk: Traveling through Time.  Speaker John Ross will be teaching us about the importance of maps in research, while also highlighting some of the special and unique maps inside of Stewart Bell Jr. Archives, including the Sheels maps that list the historical location of family homes around the city and county and the most famous maps in the collection by Civil War cartographer: Jedediah Hotchkiss.  Mr. Ross will also feature other interesting maps throughout history during the program.

This event will take place at the Robinson Auditorium of the Handley Library on Saturday, May 25 @ 10:30 am.  Registration is not required.  For more information, see https://www.handleyregional.org/event/traveling-through-time-john-ross-29383.  If you have any questions, please contact the Archives at (540) 662-9041, Ext. 17
