I Love STEAM Storytime Week

The library staff at HRLS love STEAM! That includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics! We have some great books to cover all of your STEAM interests and you can find them by clicking the search bar above and typing in the tag: #steamworks.

You can find a storytime that is just right for you this week too! Events that require registration can be found on our events calendar. Click on the event you wish to register for, then scroll down to fill in the form. Please register all caregivers and children for preschool age programs.

Here are some songs to share this week to celebrate STEAM!

Johnny Works with One Hammer

(Hammer one fist on floor)
Johnny works with one hammer,
One hammer, one hammer,
Johnny works with one hammer,
Then he works with two.

(Hammer both fists on floor)
Johnny works with two hammers...

(Hammer both fists and one foot on the floor)
Johnny works with three hammers...

(Hammer both fists and both feet on the floor)
Johnny works with four hammers...

(Hammer both fists, both feet, and nod head)
Johnny works with five hammers,
Five hammers, five hammers,
Johnny works with five hammers
Then he works no more.

The Planet Song - Sung to "Ants Go Marching"

The Planets revolve around the sun...hurrah, hurrah
The Planets revolve around the sun...hurrah, hurrah
The Planets revolve around the sun,
they spin on their axis everyone
And they all go spinning...around and around they go.

Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars...hurrah, hurrah
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars...hurrah, hurrah
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars
all whirling and twirling among the stars
And they all go spinning, around, and around they go.

Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus too,
Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus too,
Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus
All whirling around like me and you
And we all go spinning around, and around and
around the sun.

One, Two, Buckle My Shoe

One, two, buckle my shoe;
Three, four, shut the door;
Five, six, pick up sticks;
Seven, eight, lay them straight:
Nine, ten, begin again!

Repeat ending with:
...Nine, ten, that's the end!
