Holiday Celebrations Storytime Week!

It's a wonderful time of year to learn about all the many holidays celebrated in our country. Head to the HRLS storytimes this week for some wonderful stories and songs. While you're there, take home books to read together. If you'd like some great suggestions, click on the search bar above and type in the tag: #holidayjamboree.

We have some special events planned this week too, some of which require registration, so be sure to check the calendar for additional opportunities to celebrate!

We have a collection of songs you can sing to help explore some of our holiday traditions as well!

5 Little Christmas Trees
5 little Christmas Trees
Standing all alone
Their heart were very sad
'Cause they hadn't found a home.
Then chop went the ax
And down fell the tree
And off they went with a happy family!
(continue from 4-1 Christmas Trees)
No little Christmas Trees
Standing all alone
Their hearts were very happy
'Cause they all found a home!!!

Where Is Santa
(Tune: Where is Thumbkin)
Where is Santa? Where is Santa?
Here I am! Here I am!
Merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry Christmas
Ho Ho Ho! Ho Ho Ho!

I'm a little Dreidel
(Tune:  I'm a little teapot)
I'm a little dreidel made of clay
Spin me around when you want to play.
When I fall down if you don't win,
Just pick me up and spin again.

Lighting All the Candles
(Tune: I've been working on the railroad)
I am lighting all the candles
On this Hanukkah night.
I am lighting all the candles
To see them shining bright.
Flicker, flickers little candles,
Fill me with your glow.
Now the time has come to count them,
Ready, set and go
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.

Kwanzaa's Here
(Tune:  Three Blind Mice)
Red, green, black,
Red, green, black.
Kwanzaa's here,
Kwanzaa's here.
The decorations are quite a sight,
We light a candle every night,
The holiday is filled with light.
Kwanzaa's here.

This Year's Drawing to an End
(Tune:  Mary Had A Little Lamb)
This year's drawing to an end,
To an end, to an end.
This year's drawing to an end.
Soon we'll start a new one.

Out with the old, in with the new,
In with the new, in with the new,
Out with the old and in with the new,
On January 1st.
