Are you a precocious pretend-people person possessing a particular preference for puppets?
Perchance, does puppeteering posit a potentially peculiar positive personality upon your person?
Or, perhaps you are percolating over the prospect of a preponderance of playtime puppet pandemonium?
Well, we have the perfect place for your puppet passion. Volunteer this summer as a teen puppeteer for the Handley Regional Library System! Weekly puppet programs are provided to our preschoolers by our teen volunteers on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11:00 am at the Bowman Library, and Fridays at 10:30 for Handley Library's Dance Party.
In addition to our usual volunteer opportunities for puppeteers, there will be several special performances, puppet tours, and workshops for our exciting summer season, beginning on May 14th at 6:00 pm at the Bowman Library with our Puppeteer Training Workshop. Teens interested in volunteering as puppeteers for summer storytimes are encouraged to attend. No experience is necessary. Puppeteers will learn techniques for bringing puppets alive using arm rods, props, body movement and stage presence. The summer performance schedule and music playlist will be distributed.
For those wishing to take their puppeteering to the next level, we welcome Penny Russell, master puppeteer, to the Bowman Library on June 12th from 12:00-3:00 pm for It's Showtime with Puppets. Ms. Russell will be conducting a puppetry workshop for all current and future library teen puppeteers. Tips will be shared and new strategies practiced just in time to get ready for the summer tour to Shenandoah County libraries. This special presentation is by registration only through our library calendar. Registration will open on our May 14th meeting.
