What you need for a library card

Bring picture
identification with your name and physical address and/or proof of
paying personal property taxes in the region the library serves.

Children ages 5 to 15
need a parent or legal guardian present to sign the application.
Youth 16 or over do not
need parent’s signature if they have a picture ID and proof of physical
address.

Residents of Loudoun,
Fauquier, Warren, and Shenandoah counties may have free HRL library
cards by showing their home library cards along with picture
identification with your name and physical address.

Nonresidents may have
library cards for $25 annually.

Loan Periods and Fines :

All materials can be checked out for three weeks, and all items can be
renewed for another three-week period.

We can renew books over the phone. To renew, call 662-9041,
ext. 15 or 869-9000, ext. 0.

Overdue fines are $.15 per item per day.

Maximum numbers that can be checked out are:
30 Books
10 Videos
5 DVDs
5 Books on Tape or Books on CD
10 music CDs
for a maximum of 30 items per library card.
Returning Library Materials
You can return materials to any library in the regional system. If the
library is closed, use the drop-off box.
Placing Holds
Want an item that is already checked out? Place a "hold request" through
the online catalog either in the library or at home. (You will need a PIN
number to place holds yourself through the online catalog. Ask at any
circulation desk to get a PIN.) When the items you want are returned, the
library will notify you by phone and hold the item for 3 days.
You are responsible for all items borrowed on your
library
card.
Please report a lost, missing, or stolen card
to your
library immediately.
