Library centennial book wins Independent Publisher Award

Independent Publisher awarded a 2013 IPPY award for Handley Regional Library The First One Hundred Years, it was announced on May 7. The library's centennial book won a silver medal for Best Non-Fiction in the Mid-Atlantic region. The awards ceremony to honor the medalists will take place on May 29th in New York, on the eve of the Book Expo America convention.
The "IPPY" Awards, launched in 1996, are designed to bring increased recognition to the deserving but often unsung titles published by independent authors and publishers, according to Independent Publisher's website. Established as the first awards program open exclusively to independents, over 3,000 "IPPYs" have been awarded to authors and publishers around the world. Independent publishers are extremely diverse, in both style and geography. This year, there were over 5,000 entries.The Awards are owned and operated by Jenkins Group, a publishing services company founded 1988 and located in Traverse City, Michigan.
