Why the change? Here's what their website says: "As
we refocus our efforts on gathering the best online collection of military
records and stories we wanted a name that would reflect military history and
honor. So what does it mean? Traditionally, the third fold in a flag-folding
ceremony honors and remembers veterans for their sacrifice in defending their
country and promoting peace in the world."
Fold 3.com is a website where original historical documents have been digitized and are searchable providing a truly unique experience. Fold3.com collections feature documents, many never available before on the Internet, relating to the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI, WWII, US Presidents, historical newspapers, naturalization documents and more as they are continually being added.
Founded in 1997, Fold3.com provides users with an unaltered view of the events, places and people that shaped the American nation and the world. Copies of these original documents may be printed.
Fold3.com can only be accessed in person at the Archives. For Archives hours, see Hours and Locations.
