This project was funded by a bequest from the estate of
Dr. Meredith Wilkinson Green, (1922-2005), former Library Board member.

About the Library:
Handley Trustees hired architects Stewart Barney and Henry Otis Chapman of New York who designed the building in Beaux-Arts style.  The final cost of the building and furnishings in 1913 was $233,230.28

The original ink-on-linen drawings by Barney & Chapman are preserved in the Stewart Bell Jr. Archives, Handley Library, Winchester, Virginia
